DAVID CHILDS, SOM
David Childs is consulting design partner and chairman emeritus of the architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. He is best known for being the architect of One World Trade Center in New York City. Childs graduated from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut in 1963 and turned to architecture at the Yale School of Architecture, earning his master’s degree in 1967. In 1971 he joined the Washington, D.C. office of SOM.
SOM is a collective of architects, designers, engineers and planners working together to build a better future. The firm is responsible for some of the world’s most technically and environmentally advanced buildings and significant public spaces. Their approach is highly collaborative, and their interdisciplinary team is international. Working from a network of creative studios across the globe, SOM are able to apply international expertise at a local level.

ARTIST FRED EVERSLEY UNVEILS LARGE-SCALE INSTALLATION 'PORTALS' AT ONE FLAGLER
Sculptor Fred Eversley, a pioneering artist with an early and long-standing affiliation with the Light and Space movement, has debuted his largest public art installation to date.
PORTALS, a monumental permanent installation, was commissioned by Related Ross in partnership with the City of West Palm Beach, Florida in early 2022 through an invited competition. The new installation honors Julian Abele (1881–1950), a pathbreaking Black architect who designed the historic First Church of Christ, Scientist, now commemorated by Julian Abele Park at One Flagler.
Related Ross officially welcomed the new One Flagler office building with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by an exclusive preview of estiatorio Milos reception. The event gave guests the chance to experience the restaurant's exceptional hospitality and take guided tours of the stunning One Flagler building before officially opening to the public.
Related celebrated the official top out of West Palm’s premier office tower, One Flagler, on Friday, August 18. Related celebrated this prolific milestone with Coastal Construction and the teams that worked diligently to bring this project to life. The LEED Platinum-designed, 25-story waterfront building will open in 2024 with thoughtful amenities in a club-like setting.
